www.play-and-stay.co.uk is owned and run by Holiday Extras Ltd, we are the UKs market leaders in providing travel products such as airport hotels, airport parking and travel insurance. We successfully look after 2.5 million customers a year and were established in 1983. We are a privately owned business. Can I buy Theme Park tickets on their own?
Unfortunately this is not possible, as our tickets must be purchased as part of a hotel package. We do have some ticket only special offers these can be booked online at www.fun-ticket.co.uk. Back to top

When do I get my tickets?
For bookings we will email a confirmation voucher to you. This will serve as proof of payment for both the hotel and your Theme Park tickets. You will need to exchange this confirmation email at the Group bookings desk at the park to receive your entrance tickets, please take the confirmation email with you. Back to top

What happens if I lose my vouchers before I go?
If you lose this voucher please call us on 0800 9555 980 and we will arrange for a replacement voucher to be re-sent. The original voucher (should you subsequently find it) will be then become void. Back to top

Can I book at short notice?
Yes you can actually book on the day you want to go. Back to top

Do you have a brochure?
We have chosen not to produce a brochure for www.play-and-stay.co.uk as we prefer to keep our website totally up-to-date with the latest prices, availability and information. Back to top

Is breakfast at the hotel incldued in the package?
Most Play-and-Stay packages do include breakfast (but not all), please check carefully before confirming your booking whether you have selected a room only or breakfast included package. Back to top

What if I need to cancel my booking?
Should you or any member of your party need to cancel your booking once it has been confirmed, the party leader must immediately advise us. All cancellations must be made through Play-and-Stay. Telephone 0800 9555 980.
No refund is made for cancellation of bookings within 24 hours of the date of ticket entrance to the park or within 24 hours of the hotel stay (or after). An administration fee of 15.00 per room per night applies to all other cancellations. Back to top

What if I need to amend my booking?
We will do our best to amend bookings for you, this may increase the price of the original booking if you are adding nights, additional family members or additional rooms. We will not charge you an additional amendment fee however.
If the amendment results in a reduction in the price of the original booking we will provide you with a refund on the difference.
Any amendments within 24 hours of the date of ticket entrance to the Theme Park or within 24 hours of the hotel stay will be treated as a cancellation. Back to top

Where is Alton Towers?
Alton Towers is situated in 500 acres of Staffordshire countryside. Clearly signposted from the M1 and M6, the Park is approximately 50 miles north of Birmingham and 50 miles south of Manchester. The nearest train station is located 15 miles away in Stoke on Trent. Back to top

Why is Alton Towers located where it is?
When Alton Towers was originally built it was as a stately home. The theme park was not introduced to the site until the early 1980's. Back to top

What times does Alton Towers open and close?
Alton Towers is every day from 19TH March 2006 until 29th October 2006. The park opens at 9.30am and closing times vary throughout the season. Rides open at 10.00am. Back to top

There is a Group Sales kiosk in the main coach car park in order to exchange trade vouchers for park tickets. Plus the Advance sales office by the main entrance. Back to top

What type of rides are there at Alton Towers?
Alton Towers has more rides than any other theme park in Britain from white-knuckle rides for thrill seekers to rides for the whole family. Attractions range from Oblivion, the world's first vertical drop rollercoaster, to the imaginative fun of Storybook Land for younger visitors. Back to top

What is the fastest ride at Alton Towers?
Oblivion is the fastest ride at Alton Towers with a maximum speed of 110km per hour (the same speed created by hurricane force winds). Back to top

Oblivion had the highest g-force measuring 4.5 g's (NASA astronauts only experience 3g at take off). RITA has a g-force of 4.7 Back to top

How does the Virtual Queue work?
During certain Standard and Peak periods, the Virtual Queue or Fast Track works using time coded tickets available from the ride entrance of certain rides, which state a time after which visitors can return to the ride for their turn. Once guests have reserved their spot in the Virtual Queue, they are free to spend extra time enjoying other rides and attractions. Virtual Queue tickets are subject to availability and trade clients cannot purchase before the day of visit. Only available on Nemesis, Air and The Flume (on selected days only) Back to top

What shows are there throughout the day at Alton Towers?
Webmaster An Adventure on Ice is a specially choreographed show for all the family to enjoy featuring a futuristic storyline, breathtaking illusions and a unique music score.

Who looks after the safety of the guests at Alton Towers?
Alton Towers has its own Security department and Health and Safety department who are responsible for the safety and welfare of both guests and employees. Back to top

Alton Towers has the following health and safety codes which it must abide by: Fairgrounds and Amusement Parks Guidance on Safe Practice, The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992, The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1992 and Disability and Discrimination Act 1995. What facilities does Alton Towers provide for disabled guests?
Alton Towers makes every effort to ensure the Park is accessible to all guests. On most rides, guests in wheelchairs and their helpers are allowed to approach via the exit, thus avoiding queue lines. Throughout the Park, disabled toilet facilities are available and the Park has its own Medical Centre where special needs can be catered for, i.e. cold storage of medicines and specialised equipment. Wheelchairs are also available to hire from Guest Services. Alton Towers provides a special guide for disabled visitors, a copy of which can be obtained by calling the Customer Services department on 01538 702200. Back to top

What is the procedure for looking after lost children at Alton Towers?
Lost children are immediately taken to the Medical Centre near Courtyard Tavern where trained nurses care for them until their parents/guardians are located. Back to top

What happens to lost property at Alton Towers?
Alton Towers has its own Lost Property department who are responsible for collecting, cross-referencing and locating all lost items. Lost property can be reclaimed at Guest Services. After a period of three to four months, unclaimed property is sold to staff and the proceeds donated to charity. Back to top

What height restrictions are there on the main rides at Alton Towers?
Riders on Oblivion, Ripsaw, Nemesis and Air must be over 1.4m. For certain rides, a minimum height applies unless accompanied by an adult. All of the rides have height restrictions, either minimum or maximum, which are set by the ride manufacturer and reinforced by Alton Towers' own health and safety legislation. Back to top

What types of gifts are available from Alton Towers?
Alton Towers sells a wide selection of merchandise ranging from Alton Towers pens at 99p to Oblivion deluxe coats at 94.99. You can also purchase ride photos at the exits of many of the major rides including Air, Nemesis and Oblivion. Back to top

What types of food outlets are there at Alton Towers?
Around the Park guests will find a wide selection of food outlets ranging from McDonald's, KFC and Pizza Hut to Alton Towers' own branded family restaurants. Restaurants can be very popular between 12.30pm and 2pm on busy days. Back to top
